Entry: 012004 - Copyrights

Tue Jan 20, 2004, 11:16 AM
Ha! I have a journal... go figure. No posting myself comments on myself ;)

Removing the anime wallpaper section was bullshit. Commercial companies only care if you use their stuff if you're reselling it, using to advertise your own sales, or if you attach some other name to it. Digital copyrights are so screwed up right now... half the problem is that computer illiterate tight-wad lawyers are doing all the suing when they don't even know how any of this stuff works. And what's the difference between using someone else's image, or drawing your own version of it in a wallpaper? You're still using that character image and that's what's copyrighted. I think anime companies should ENCOURAGE people to use their images for things like wallpapers. It's like free advertising. Sometimes it seems like we Americans are too busy trying to make money by suing other people rather than working for it.
